MOVE-Certificate: international academic credits for the Dutch-German border region

The MBO Raad, the Nationaal Europass Centrum Nederland, the Rijnland Instituut, and the IT HUB Hoogeveen have together launched an innovative pilot: the MOVE-Certificate. These (extra)curricular academic credits have been specifically developed for VET (Vocational Education and Training) schools in the Dutch-German border region. The pilot has begun with IT courses.

Thanks to registration within the Europass portfolio, these certificates are not only internationally recognisable and recognised but also more widely accessible to students. This has made the steps towards a cross-border career easier.

Despite free movement of labour being an EU right, students and businesses often encounter practical obstacles. The recognition of diplomas and skills is not always straightforward and cross-border cooperation between small and medium-sized enterprises remains complex.

MOVE-certificate offers a solution. Through automated mutual recognition of (parts of) academic programmes, there are more opportunities for VET students to gain experience internationally – and strengthen their position in the European labour market.
