On Monday 11 May, MOVE-certificate was represented at the symposium Innovation for Sustainable Development in the Border Region, which took place at Intergas Verwarming in Coevorden. The event was organised by the Rijnland Institute in collaboration with partners.
Managers, entrepreneurs, knowledge institutions and authorities from the Netherlands and Germany came together to discuss a key question: How do we jointly build a smart and sustainable border region?
During the symposium, MOVE-certificate led the workshop Qualifications for borderless cooperation. This session focused on the labour market in the border region. Although cross-border work sounds simple in theory, in practice it faces concrete hurdles: the recognition of degrees and qualifications, differing laws and regulations, and cultural differences in the workplace.
Together with representatives from politics, education and business on both sides of the border, participants explored how these barriers can be overcome. MOVE-certificate shared insights and experiences regarding the recognition and visibility of qualifications in a cross-border context.
The symposium made it clear that cross-border cooperation is no longer a non-binding goal, but a necessity. The challenges in the areas of the labour market, energy and economic resilience require joint solutions. MOVE-certificate builds on this by contributing to a labour market in which qualifications are recognised and utilised across borders.
